There’s plenty to work through in any NetSuite release, and 2026.2 is no different. For finance teams, the changes around bank reconciliation and Accounts Payable are particularly worth looking at, with the potential to reduce manual steps, streamline existing processes and give teams better visibility over reconciliation activity.
Rather than simply running through what’s new, we’ve looked at what these changes mean in practice and where they can make a difference to the way finance teams work day to day.
A more streamlined bank matching process
The bank matching process has been streamlined in 2026.2, with changes designed to make it easier for finance teams to review transactions and move them through reconciliation.
The new Match Suggestions subtab brings suggested actions for imported transactions into one place. Depending on the transaction, users can match it, review potential matches, apply a payment or create a transaction based on an auto-create rule.
New filters for date, transaction type and cash flow type should also make it easier to find and work through relevant transactions, particularly when dealing with larger volumes.
More significantly, NetSuite has removed a step from the reconciliation process. When a transaction is manually matched or cleared from the Match Bank Data page, it is now submitted for reconciliation automatically rather than requiring a separate submission.
For finance teams using bank reconciliation regularly, that should mean a more streamlined day-to-day process. It does, however, change some familiar steps, so it’s worth running through the workflow with the people who use it and checking whether any internal guidance or training materials need updating.
Reduce manual AP processing with payment suggestions
Payment application suggestions now extend into Accounts Payable, helping to streamline the way supplier payments are processed.
When NetSuite identifies an imported bank transaction that corresponds to an open payable, it can suggest the related payment and allow users to review, create, apply and reconcile it directly from the Match Bank Data page.
For AP teams processing high volumes of payments, this means fewer manual steps and a quicker route from identifying the bank transaction to reconciling the payment.
There are, however, a few exceptions. Partial payments and payments covering multiple invoices will still need to be handled in the usual way, but for straightforward transactions, this update provides a real opportunity to save time and focus attention on the payments that need more manual input.
Speed up reconciliation with automatic matching
Previously, even when NetSuite identified an exact match using reconciliation rules, a user still needed to review and submit it. In 2026.2, eligible exact matches can now be accepted and submitted automatically.
For finance teams working through high transaction volumes, that removes another manual step from the reconciliation process. Rather than spending time submitting routine matches, users can focus their attention on exceptions and transactions that need investigating.
Transactions that require further review will still be passed to the user, so the automation is focused on the straightforward matches NetSuite can identify with confidence.
The Automatically Accept Exact Matches preference is enabled by default, so it’s worth checking how this fits with your existing reconciliation process. If your controls require every match to be reviewed before submission, you can choose to retain that additional review step.
There’s also a clear audit trail when automatic matching is used, with system-submitted transactions identified within the reconciliation process so teams can easily see where NetSuite has taken action automatically.
Worth noting: This functionality is currently only available in NetSuite Next, which is being released to customers in phases, so it may not yet be available in your account.
Bring more of the payment process into NetSuite with Payment Runs
Payment Runs are an important addition for AP teams in 2026.2, particularly for businesses managing part of their payment preparation and approval process outside NetSuite.
Previously, this could mean exporting payables into Excel, preparing a payment proposal, circulating it for review or approval and then returning to NetSuite to process the payments.
With Payment Runs, more of that process can now happen within NetSuite. Teams can group supplier payments together, review and amend what is being paid, see the total payment value and approve the run before the individual payments are created.
For businesses currently relying on spreadsheets or other offline processes, that means fewer hand-offs, better visibility over approvals and a clearer record of the process from payment proposal through to payment.
It’s worth looking at how your team manages this process today and whether any of those manual or offline steps can now be brought into NetSuite.
Get better visibility over reconciliation activity
2026.2 also gives finance teams a clearer audit trail of what has happened during the reconciliation process.
Previously, it could be difficult to piece together the full history of a transaction and understand who had taken an action and when. NetSuite now captures more of that activity, including when transactions are cleared, submitted, unmatched, reconciled or unreconciled.
Teams can also see whether actions were carried out by a user or automatically by NetSuite.
For finance teams, that should make investigating reconciliation queries quicker. If something isn't where you expect it to be, there’s more information available within NetSuite to understand what happened without having to piece the history together elsewhere.
The additional visibility should also make it easier to evidence reconciliation controls. If internal or external auditors need to understand who matched or submitted a transaction, when it was reconciled or whether an action was automated, more of that information can now be accessed directly within NetSuite.
For teams that currently spend time pulling together this evidence manually, the new audit trail may help make that process quicker and more straightforward.
Making the most of the changes in 2026.2
The real value of these changes will depend on how your finance team works today.
For some, the biggest opportunity will be removing manual steps from reconciliation. For others, it could be bringing payment processes currently managed through spreadsheets into NetSuite, or making it easier to evidence reconciliation activity for audit.
The key is to look at your existing processes alongside the new functionality. Where are teams still carrying out repetitive tasks? Which processes move outside NetSuite? And where are people spending time finding or pulling together information that could now be available within the system?
Those are the areas where 2026.2 can make the biggest difference to day-to-day finance operations.
